Petrol Truck Electronic Loading commences in Nigeria

Petroleum Electronic Truck Loading concept has started in Africa’s biggest Oil producing nation, Nigeria. The Concept which is being driven by the Petroleum Equalisation Fund Management board has been designed to improve operations in the downstream sector.

This Initiative which has been named ‘Project Aquila’ is structured to further ensure a robust and strategic way of loading and delivering of petroleum products across the nation.

Speaking on the new project, the General Manager, Corporate Services, Petroleum Equalization Fund, Mr Godwin Nnadi stated this in a media parley held in Abuja.

He said employing the Electronic strategy, was going to ease the hitches, delays, issues and gridlocks that occurred in the process of loading petroleum products at the depot as well the distribution of same throughout the Country.

Stressing on how important the new scheme had become in the Country, he stated that “It will now be very difficult for any marketer to get paid for the bridging claim if not registered with Project Aquila”, meaning that it will no longer be business as usual in the operations of the downstream sector, that has to do with petroleum product distribution and supply.

On the Issue of manual backlog claims since last year, the PEF said it was working tirelessly to ensure that issues that surround it were resolved amicably by March this year.

It could be recalled that late last year, Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison Madueke assured Nigerians that 2013 will see a major improvement in the distribution and supply of petroleum products, and with the electronic petrol loading concept introduced, her promise may come to fulfilment.
