Nigerian Stock Market Watch: All Share Index (ASI) Surges to Verge of 21,000 Threshold

The Nigerian Stock Exchange surged up by 1.49%, fueled by gains from the bourse’s most capitalized stock, Dangote Cement (+4.9%).

The All Share Index closed just short of the 21,000 mark, settling at 20,926.31 and seems to be poised to potentially cross the threshold in tomorrow’s session.

The banking sector was remarkably bearish today with UBA, notably, reversing on its losses and closing in the red, shedding 481 points as profit takers and herd mentality psyched investors dumping the stock.

GTBank (+1.53%), Fidelity (+2.78%), and Stanbic (+1.22%) were the only sub-sector leaders in the trading session.

Nigerian Breweries (+1.48%) was amongst the bullis performers in the consumer goods sector. Others included Cadbury (+4.91%), Dangote Sugar (+1.87%), Honeywell (+3.85%), and Nascon (+2.50%).
