Lafarge appoints new CEO, Joe Hudson

Lafarge has notified The Exchange of the appointment of Mr. Joseph Hudson as the new Managing Director / CEO of the Company, following the resignation of Mr. Samy Abdelkader.  Mr. Abdelkader resigned his appointment with effect from September 16th, 2011 to pursue other opportunities within the Lafarge Group.

Hudson is a graduate of Education from University of Exceter United Kingdom (UK). He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources from University of Nottingham Business School, UK.  He is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, UK.

He was head of Human Resource s, HomeGrown Kenya Limited, Nairobi Kenya, before joining Lafarge Kampala, Uganda in 2002 as Human Resources & Organization Manager.  Between 2004 and 2006, he was transferred to Lafarge SA, Washington DC, USA as Regional Director; and in 2006, he was promoted Vice President Human Resource, Gypsum North America. In 2009, became the Regional Vice President Human Resources and Organization – Sub-Saharan Africa before his present appointment to the position of Managing Director / CEO of Lafarge Cement Wapco Nigeria Plc., with effect from December 16th, 2011.
