CBN Set to Issue N863 billion Treasury Bills before 2013

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is to undergo a monetary control exercise that will see the apex bank issue N863.03 worth of treasury bills between now and the end of the year.

The treasury bills which will carry tenors ranging from 91 days, 182 days and 1 year are set to be issued beginning September 20th.

N220.05 billion will be mopped up from circulation via the issuance of treasury bills with a 91 day maturity, N381.30 billion will be mopped up via the issuance of bills with 182 days maturity, whilst finally N261.68 billion would be mopped up via the issue of t-bills with 1 year maturity.

Later this month, the CBN will hold two auctions and issue a total of N205.924 billion in t-bills of different maturities. The CBN will issue N59.329 billion, N122.812 billion and N23.783 billion in 91-days, 182-days and one-year treasury bills respectively.

In October, the CBN will issue t-bills valued at a total of N282.119 billion in its twice weekly auction. The CBN will issue N64.048 billion, N118.5 billion and 99.571 billion in 91-days, 182-days and one-year t-bills respectively.

In November, the CBN will issue N62.705 billion 91-days t-bills, N95 billion 182-days t-billsand 88.323 billion one-year t-bills, representing a total issue of N246.028 billion.

In December, the CBN will issue N32.971 billion in 91-days t-bills, N45 billion in 182-days t-bills and N50 billion in one-year t-bills, representing a total issue of N127.971 billion.
